French Ferry Workers Strike

Be aware that ferry workers in France have blockaded the port of Calais today and the port is in disarray.

It’s all to do with the restructuring of MyFerryLink.

All Shipping was stopped earlier today, and Eurotunnel has reported that the strike action has greatly reduced its shuttle train services.

The union is annoyed by Eurotunnel’s plan to sell two of MyFerryLink's three passenger vessels to Denmark's DFDS.

The future of MyFerryLink, which was previously called SeaFrance (hence the old photo above) has been called into question since Eurotunnel announced in May that it will end its partnership with the ferry company.

Approximately 600 French workers could be losing their jobs.

Traffic Problems

The traffic problems are building in Kent with a lane blocked due to freight traffic queueing up for the Tunnel on M20 at J11A.
